【Indications】

Vigabatrin (vigabatrin tablets) is an auxiliary treatment for anti-epilepsy; Vigabatrin (vigabatrin tablets) can be used as an auxiliary treatment for partial seizures of refractory complex epilepsy; it can also be used to treat infantile spasms and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome; Vigabatrin (vigabatrin tablets) is used for tardive dyskinesia.

【Usage and Dosage】

Sabrilex is administered orally. The maximum daily dose for adults is 2-3g. When starting to take Sabrilex, 1g per day is appropriate. Then, depending on the response after taking the medication, if the response is good, it can be increased by 0.5g per week, and finally reaches a dosage of 2-3g Sabrilex per day. The use of vigabatrin should be done under the guidance of an epilepsy expert or a child neurologist. Reactions after taking the medication should be reported to the doctor promptly.

【Adverse reactions】

There are some common side effects of vigabatrin treatment, including: fatigue/drowsiness/dizziness/headache/confusion and depression. Occasional aggressive behavior and psychosis (more common in patients with a history of psychosis and behavioral problems)/double vision/memory loss/gastrointestinal disturbances/weight gain/edema and hair loss. Neurosis/nystagmus/irritability/ataxia/paresthesia/tremor may also occur.

The toxic effects of vigabatrin on the retina may lead to peripheral visual field defects in children, so regular ophthalmological monitoring is required.
