Animal experiments show that rapamin can prolong the survival (period) of allogeneic transplants (kidney, heart, skin, pancreatic islets, small intestine, pancreaticoduodenum and bone marrow) in mice, rats, pigs, and/or primates; it can reverse acute rejection of heart and kidney allografts in rats.
