Sirolimus, also known as sirolimus, is a lipophilic macrolide antifungal antibiotic produced by Streptomyces hygroscopicus which was first discovered by Ayerster Laboratory on Ester Island in the Pacific in 1975. It is a 35$ ring lactone compound and has certain similarities in chemical structure with tacrolimus. In 1989, Morris officially began to trial rapamycin as a new immunosuppressant to prevent rejection of organ transplants. Officially approved for marketing by the U.S. FDA in September 1999, China's Rapamin Oral Liquid was approved to enter domestic clinical trials as a Class II new drug in 2002, bringing new treatment hopes and opportunities to domestic patients.

Drug prices have always been a concern of patients. So, how much does Rapamin cost? Has Leipa Ming been included in the medical insurance catalog?

Due to the different specifications of Leipaming, there will be certain differences in the final selling price. According to the official display of the China Medical Information Query Platform, the reference price of this drug is 143.00$~2739.00$. Normally, patients can buy a box of the small-sized medicines they need for about $500. At present, Rapamin has been included in the medical insurance catalog and is a Class B drug in the medical insurance. This means that when patients purchase the drug in China, they can rely on medical insurance to reimburse part of the cost, thus reducing their out-of-pocket expenses and reducing their own financial burden.

After purchasing the medicine, patients must strictly follow the instructions or doctor's instructions to take the medicine. Rapamin is recommended to be used in combination with cyclosporine and corticosteroids, taken orally once a day. Patients should start taking it as soon as possible after receiving a kidney transplant. The recommended loading dose for kidney transplant patients is 6 mg and the maintenance dose is 2 mg/day. Although the loading dose of 15 mg and the maintenance dose of 5 mg/day used in clinical trials are safe and effective, the therapeutic benefits of doses above 2 mg are unclear for kidney transplant patients. The overall safety profile of patients taking 2 mg of rapamide daily was better than that of patients taking 5 mg rapamide daily.
