It can be used as adjuvant therapy in patients who have failed other antiepileptic drugs, and it can also be used in patients with partial seizures (mainly used to control complex partial seizures). Vigabatrin is also effective in infants with West syndrome (infantile spasms), a condition in which conventional antiepileptic drugs are often ineffective. So, what should you pay attention to when using French Sanofi Vigabatrin?

1. Anemia: related to the decrease of hemoglobin and hematocrit; there are reports of cases of significant decrease in hemoglobin (<8 g/dL) or decrease in hematocrit (<24%).

2. Central nervous system depression: Vigabatrin may cause central nervous system depression, which may impair physical or mental abilities; patients must be cautioned not to perform tasks that require mental alertness (such as operating machinery or driving).

3. Edema: Peripheral edema and edema have been reported to be associated with hypertension, heart failure, weight gain, and renal or hepatic insufficiency.

4. Neurotoxicity: Intramyelin edema has been reported (rarely) in infants. Patients must be closely monitored for potential neurotoxicity (observed in animal models but not in adults).

5. Peripheral neuropathy: Peripheral neuropathy occurs in adult patients, manifested by numbness or tingling in the toes or feet, weakened vibration or position sensation in the distal lower limbs, or gradual loss of reflexes.

6. Suicidal ideation: Patients taking vigabatrin antiepileptic drugs are at increased risk for suicidal ideation/behavior. Monitor changes in the patient's behavior and notify the doctor immediately if suicidal thoughts or symptoms of depression occur.

7. Vision loss: Vigabatrin can cause permanent vision loss in infants, children and adults.

8. Weight gain: The average weight gain of adults is 3.5 kg, and the average weight gain of pediatric patients is more than 7%.

9. Psychotic Behavior: Psychotic/anxiety reactions may occur more frequently in patients with a history of psychosis/psychosis.

10. Renal impairment: Use vigabatrin with caution in patients with renal insufficiency; adjust the dosage for children and adults with renal insufficiency (CrCl<80 ml/min).

11. Fetal toxicity: It has been reported that neonatal defects after use during pregnancy include: heart defects, limb defects, male genital malformations, fetal anticonvulsant syndrome, kidney and ear malformations.

The above is the content of the precautions, I hope it can help you!
