Generally refers to vigabatrin oral solution powder, which is mainly used to treat infantile spasms. It is suitable for single-drug treatment of infantile spasms in children aged 1 month to 2 years old. Vigabatrin oral solution powder can only be prepared by diluting it with cold or warm water.

Preparation method of Vigabatrin oral liquid

1. Take 1 empty cup and the total number of bags required for this dose.

2. Before opening the package, flick the bag to place all the powder at the bottom of the bag.

3. Use scissors to cut the bulk bag of vigabatrin oral solution along the dotted line.

4. Pour all the contents of the bulk bag of vigabatrin oral solution into a clean empty cup. Repeat steps 2-4 to open all the bulk bags of vigabatrin oral solution required for one dose and pour them into the cup.

5. Take the second cup and pour half of it with water. Do not mix vigabatrin oral solution powder with anything other than water.

6. Use the 10ml medicine dispenser to absorb 10ml of water. You need to insert the tip of the medicine dispenser into the water in the cup, and then pull the plunger upward until the bottom of the white plunger rod is on the 10ml mark on the needle of the medicine dispenser.

7. Check the medicine dispenser to ensure that it is filled with water to reach the 10ml mark.

8. Take a cup containing the required dose of vigabatrin oral solution powder.

9. Place the dispenser filled with 10 ml of water with the tip down on top of the vigabatrin oral solution powder.

10. Slowly push the plunger rod of the medicine dispenser and inject the water in the medicine dispenser directly into the cup containing the powder for vigabatrin oral solution.

11. Use a small spoon or other clean utensil to stir the medicinal solution until the solution is clear and can be taken after all is dissolved.

12. Insert the tip of the medicine dispenser into the medicine liquid, and pull the plunger rod upward to absorb the medicine liquid. Stop immediately when the bottom of the white plunger rod is aligned with the dose mark on the dispenser syringe, which should be the same as the number of milliliters of medication told by your doctor.

13. Put the tip of the medicine dispenser into the child's mouth and point the medicine dispenser towards the side of the cheek. Push the plunger rod slowly, a small amount at a time, until all the medication in the dispenser is administered.

14. Do not save or reuse any remaining liquid medicine.

15. Wash the medicine dispenser and cup in warm water. To clean the dispenser, gently pull the plunger rod out of the syringe, rinse well and keep dry.

Vigabatrin oral liquid

The initial dose is 50mg/kg/day, twice a day, each time (25mg/kg), and then it can be titrated upward every 3 days according to 25mg/kg/day-50mg/kg/day. The maximum daily dose is 150mg/kg, taken in two divided doses, 75mg/kg each time. The dosage must be specified according to the child's weight and doctor's advice.

Common symptoms during medication include permanent visual impairment, abnormal magnetic resonance imaging in infants, neurotoxicity, anemia, drowsiness, fatigue, weight gain, edema, etc. Main observation and monitoring are required during medication.
