(Vigabatrin tablets, SABRIL) has different dosages for different indications. With the gradual accumulation of clinical application experience in Europe, and its significant efficacy in tuberous sclerosis with infantile spasms, it was allowed to continue to be used, and later it was recognized as a first-line drug for the treatment of infantile spasms.

1. Refractory complex partial epilepsy
(1) Adults (patients 17 years old and above)
The starting dose of treatment should be 1000 mg/day (500 mg twice a day). Depending on efficacy, the total daily dose may be increased by 500 mg weekly. The recommended dose of Vigabatrin for adults is 3000 mg/day (1500 mg twice daily). The 6000 mg/day dose showed no additional benefit compared with the 3000 mg/day dose and was associated with an increased incidence of adverse events.
In controlled clinical studies in adults with complex partial seizures, vigabatrin was reduced by reducing the daily dose by 1000 mg/day weekly until discontinuation.
(2) Pediatrics (patients aged 2 to 16 years)
The recommended dose is based on body weight and administered in two doses, as shown in Table 1. Based on efficacy, the dose may be increased at weekly intervals to the total daily maintenance dose.
Pediatric patients weighing more than 60 kg should take according to adult recommendations.

Infantile spasmsThe initial daily dose is 50 mg/kg/day, administered in two divided doses (25 mg/kg, twice daily); subsequent doses can be titrated in the following manner Increase 25 mg/kg/day to 50 mg/kg/day every 3 days, up to a maximum of 150 mg/kg/day, administered in 2 divided doses (twice a day, 75 mg/kg each time). For patients with infantile spasms, if no significant clinical effect is observed within 2 to 4 weeks, Sebulin should be discontinued. If, in the prescriber's clinical judgment, evidence of treatment failure becomes apparent before 2 to 4 weeks, treatment should be discontinued at this time. Pour the entire contents of each 500 mg package into a clean cup and dissolve in 10 ml of cold or room temperature water per package. Inject the resulting solution using the 3 mL or 10 mL oral syringe available at the pharmacy. The concentration of the final solution is 50 mg/ml. Table 3 below describes how many packets and milliliters (mL) of water are required to prepare each individual dose. The concentration after reconstitution is 50 mg/ml.
