How much does sirolimus cost?

Sirolimus (sirolimus) is indicated for the prevention of organ rejection in patients 13 years of age or older who have received a kidney transplant. For patients at low to moderate immune risk, sirolimus is recommended first in a regimen of cyclosporine and corticosteroids; cyclosporine should be discontinued two to four months after transplantation. In patients at high immunological risk (defined as black recipients and/or repeat kidney transplant recipients who have lost a previous allograft for immune reasons and/or patients with high herd-reactive antibodies with peak PRA levels >80%), sirolimus is recommended in combination with cyclosporine and corticosteroids during the first year after transplantation.

Sirolimus is also indicated for preventing organ transplant rejection and treating lymphangioleiomyomatosis(LAM). In the EU, sirolimus is used as Rapamune, for the prevention of renal transplant organ rejection, for 2-3 months in combination with cyclosporine microemulsion and corticosteroids. Sirolimus can be continued as maintenance corticosteroid therapy only if cyclosporine microemulsion can be gradually discontinued.
