Filgotinib usage and dosage
Filgotinib (Filgotinib) is only available by prescription, and treatment should be done under the guidance and supervision of a physician experienced in treating rheumatoid arthritis or ulcerative colitis. Filgotinib is available in tablet form, the recommended dose is 200 mg once daily and can be taken with or without food. Treatment with filgotinib is started only when blood tests show that levels of hemoglobin (the protein that carries oxygen in the blood) and certain white blood cells are above set limits.
Whether filgotinib tablets can be divided, crushed, or chewed has not been studied, and doctors recommend that patients swallow the tablets whole. If levels drop below set limits, doctors may interrupt treatment. Patients with ulcerative colitis who do not demonstrate adequate treatment benefit within the first 22 weeks should discontinue treatment. For patients 75 years of age and older, the starting dose is 100 mg once daily. If a patient develops a serious infection, treatment should be interrupted until the infection is controlled. Patients with moderate or severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance [CrCl] 15 to <60 mL/min) are advised to take 100 mg of filgotinib once daily.
The original drug filgotinib has not yet been launched in China, and therefore is not included in medical insurance. The Bangladeshi version of the filgotinitine generic drug currently on the market overseas, specifications100mg*30 tablets may cost more than 500 yuan per box (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates), and its drug ingredients are basically the same as those of the original drug.
