What are the side effects of Ixazomib?
Ixazomib is a cancer drug used to treat multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow, in adults. It is used with two other drugs, lenalidomide and dexamethasone, in patients who have received at least one prior treatment. Ixazomib contains the active ingredient ixazomib. Due to the small number of patients with multiple myeloma, the disease is considered a "rare disease," and ixazomib has been designated an "orphan drug" (a drug for a rare disease).
The most commonly reported adverse reactions (≥20%) in combination regimens including ixazomib were thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, diarrhea, constipation, peripheral neuropathy, nausea, peripheral edema, rash, vomiting, and bronchitis. Serious adverse reactions include diarrhea, thrombocytopenia, and bronchitis. Four percent of patients who reported peripheral neuropathy, 3% who reported diarrhea, and 2% who reported thrombocytopenia permanently discontinued one or more of these three drugs. 10% of patients permanently discontinued ixazomib due to adverse reactions.
The original drug of Ixazomib has been launched in China and is included in Class B medical insurance. The price of common capsule preparations may be more than 10,000 yuan per box, which is relatively expensive. The price of the original drug of ixazomib sold overseas is more than 10,000 US dollars per box (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate). Ixazomib Generic drugs are also produced and sold overseas, and their drug ingredients are basically the same as those of the original drugs sold domestically and abroad. For example, the price of 4mg*3 tablets produced by a Laos pharmaceutical factory may be less than 1,000 yuan per box (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate), and the price is relatively cheap.
