Tobramycin inhalation solution is suitable for the treatment of patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa cystic fibrosis. By changing the route of administration from intravenous injection to local inhalation, it can increase the local drug concentration in the lungs while avoiding systemic toxicity and significantly reducing the risk of drug resistance. It is suitable for long-term maintenance treatment. The efficacy and safety of tobramycin inhalation solution in adult patients have been confirmed in clinical trials.

Tobramycin Inhalation Solution Efficacy

An aminoglycoside antibacterial drug that works by disrupting protein synthesis in bacterial cells, ultimately leading to cell death. Tobramycin has antibacterial activity against a variety of Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Tobramycin inhalation solution

In a double-blind, single-cycle study, 59 patients were randomly assigned to receive tobramycin inhalation solution (n=29) or placebo (n=30) for one cycle of 28 days on and 28 days off, as measured by the absolute change in FEV 1% predicted from baseline to the end of cycle 1 in the primary analysis population.

Tobramycin inhalation solution significantly improved patients' lung function compared with placebo, resulting in an absolute increase in FEV of 1% predicted of 16% with tobramycin inhalation solution and only 5% with placebo.

In another study, the efficacy and safety of piperacillin/tazobactam intravenous infusion combined with aerosolized tobramycin in the treatment of pulmonary Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection was studied, and 94 patients with pulmonary Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection were included.

They were randomly divided into an observation group of 47 cases and a control group of 45 cases. The control group was given intravenous infusion of piperacillin/tazobactam and tobramycin, while the observation group was given intravenous infusion of piperacillin/tazobactam and tobramycin aerosol inhalation treatment. The efficacy and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared.

Results After 2 weeks of treatment, the clinical pulmonary infection score, sputum culture Pseudomonas aeruginosa negative conversion time and hospitalization time in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (t=6.753, 7.321, 11.362, all P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 91.5%, which was significantly higher than the 77.8% of the control group.

Tobramycin Inhalation Solution Side Effects
