(Febuxostat) is a selective inhibitor of non-purine xanthine oxidase/xanthine dehydrogenase. In the 2012 American College of Rheumatology Gout Guidelines, Febuxostat is recommended as a Class A recommendation for drug treatment of patients with hyperuricemia and gout, which is also the first-line option.

Febuxostat applied for marketing in Japan in early 2004. In April 2008, the European Union first approved the marketing of febuxostat tablets, with specifications of 80 mg and 120 mg, and the trade name "Adenuric". It is used to treat chronic hyperuricemia with uric acid deposition (including patients with gout stones and/or gouty arthritis, or patients with a history of this). In February 2009, the FDA approved the marketing of febuxostat tablets in specifications of 40 mg and 80 mg, with the trade name "ULORIC", for the long-term control of hyperuricemia in patients with gout. It was approved to be listed in China in 2013.

Currently, there are three main clinical drugs for the treatment of gout (uric acid-lowering): allopurinol, febuxostat, and benzbromarone. Febuxostat is effective in treating gout. Therefore, when it comes to the choice of acid-lowering drugs for gout, many patients tend to choose febuxostat. Although it is already on the market in China, patients prefer to buy the cheaper Indian version of febuxostat.

The Indian version of Febuxostat is produced by Zydus Pharmaceuticals in India. Although the price of the Indian version of Febuxostat is favorable and the quality is guaranteed, many patients do not have a suitable and safe channel to purchase the regular Indian version of Febuxostat. The ibrutinib that many people buy from agents is fake and inferior.

There are two ways for domestic patients to buy the Indian version. One is to buy it in person in India, ask a hospital doctor to write a prescription, and then take the medicine back to China for treatment. However, this way is time-consuming, costly and not very feasible. The second is to find domestic overseas medical service agencies (such as Medical Companion Travel), who will translate the cases, contact experienced doctors in Indian hospitals to write prescriptions, and deliver the medicines to patients by direct mail from Indian pharmaceutical factories. They will also guide and answer questions for patients during the medication. This is currently the most economical and feasible solution.
