Will it be resistant? Many patients often develop drug resistance while taking febuxostat tablets, and febuxostat drug resistance is also very common. Medical companions remind patients that when drug resistance occurs when taking febuxostat tablets, they must not change the medicine without permission or increase the dose of the original medicine.

Febuxostat chemical name: 2-[(3-cyano-4-isobutoxy)phenyl]-4-methyl-5-thiazolecarboxylic acid. Febuxostat tablets are used for the long-term treatment of hyperuricemia in patients with gout and are not recommended for use in patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia. This product is a film-coated tablet that appears white or off-white after the coating is removed.

Febuxostat is a new non-purine xanthine oxidase (XO) selective inhibitor that works by reducing blood urate concentration. It is completely absorbed orally and has high bioavailability. Food and antacids have no significant effect on its absorption. Febuxostat works by reducing blood urate concentration. Unlike allopurinol, its structure is a non-purine analog, so it is selective for the inhibition of xanthine oxidase and other enzymes in purine or pyrimidine metabolism (such as guanine deaminase, pyrimidine nucleoside phosphorylase, purine nucleoside phosphorylase etc.) has a very small effect, while allopurinol is a purine analogue, which can affect the activity of other enzymes in purine and pyrimidine metabolism in the body, and is prone to some adverse reactions. The specificity of febuxostat's inhibitory effect can avoid these possible adverse reactions, and is clinically used to reduce blood uric acid in patients with gout.

The recommended oral starting dose is 40 mg once a day. If the blood uric acid level is still not less than 6 mg/dL (360 μg) after two weeks, it is recommended to increase the dose to 80 mg once a day. The maximum dosage is 120 mg/day. Experts explain that long-term use of Febuxostat tablets is not recommended. Long-term use will cause certain damage to liver and kidney function, and will also have a certain impact on the digestive system. Long-term use will also produce drug resistance.
