Esomeprazole is an alternative treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease; it is used for low-risk patients with acute gastric or duodenal ulcer bleeding (gastroscopy Forrest classification llc-Ⅲ) who are not suitable for oral therapy. What is the usage and dosage of esomeprazole?

1. For patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease who cannot take oral medication, it is recommended to inject 20-40 mg of esomeprazole intravenously or intravenously once a day. Patients with reflux esophagitis should use 40 mg once daily; for symptomatic treatment of reflux disease, 20 mg should be used once daily. Esomeprazole should usually be administered for a short period of time (no more than 7 days) and should be converted to oral therapy whenever possible.

  2. For patients with Forrest grade LLC-III acute gastric or duodenal ulcer bleeding who cannot take oral medication, it is recommended to infuse esomeprazole 40 mg intravenously every 12 hours for 5 days.

3. Administration method: Injection: The intravenous injection time of the prepared solution should be at least 3 minutes.

4. Infusion of medication: The intravenous infusion time of the prepared solution should be within 30 minutes.

5. Instructions for use: The injection is prepared by adding 5 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution to the esomeprazole vial for intravenous injection. The infusion solution is prepared by dissolving 1 vial of esomeprazole into 100 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution for intravenous infusion.

6. The prepared injection or infusion liquid is a colorless to very slightly yellow clear solution, which should be used within 12 hours and stored below 30°C. From a microbiological point of view it is best to use it immediately.

7. Incompatibility: The degradation of the prepared solution is highly dependent on the pH value. Therefore, esomeprazole must be used according to the instructions for use or under the guidance of a doctor. Esomeprazole can only be dissolved in 0.9% sodium chloride for intravenous use. The prepared solution should not be mixed with other medications or used together in the same infusion set.
