Physicians should note that a baseline PSA value below 4 ng/mL does not exclude a diagnosis of prostate cancer in patients taking dutasteride. In patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, and even in patients with prostate cancer, serum PSA levels can be reduced by approximately 50% after 6 months of treatment with dutasteride. Although individual differences exist, approximately 50% reduction in PSA values ​​can be expected across the entire range of baseline PSA values ​​(1.5-10ng/ml).
