6. Hepatic impairment

Marketing of Besudil

In October 2017, Besudil was granted orphan drug status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of cGVHD.

In October 2018, the FDA granted Besudil Breakthrough Therapy Designation (BTD) for the treatment of patients with cGVHD after failure of two or more systemic therapies.

In November 2020, the US FDA accepted the new drug application and granted priority review.

On July 16, 2021, besudil received its first approval in the United States for the treatment of cGVHD in adult and pediatric patients aged ≥12 years after failure of at least two prior systemic therapies.

The recommended dose of besudil is 200 mg once daily (with food) until cGVHD progresses and new systemic therapy is required. In patients receiving concomitant strong CYP3A4 inducers or proton pump inhibitors, the besudil dose should be increased to 200 mg twice daily. It is recommended that patients take medication under the guidance of a doctor and receive symptomatic treatment.
