Chemical name: 16a, 17a-22R, S-propylmethylenedioxy-pregna-1,4-diene-11b, 21-dihydroxy-3,20-dione (16a(R), 17-(Butylidenebis(oxy))-11b, 21-dihydroxypregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione).

Indications:

1. For patients with glucocorticoid-dependent or independent bronchial asthma and asthmatic chronic bronchitis.

2. Patients with mild or moderate colonic Crohn's and ulcerative colitis limited to the sigmoid colon can use budesonide enema.

Usage and dosage:

Adults generally take 1-2 mg of budesonide twice a day; children take 0.5-1 mg once, twice a day. The maintenance dose should be individualized, that is, the lowest dose to maintain no symptoms. It is recommended that adults take 0.5-1 mg twice a day and children 0.25-0.5 mg twice a day.

Adverse reactions:

Mild throat irritation and hoarseness, occasional candida infection in the oropharynx, rash, rare mental stimulation, nervousness, irritability, etc.

Things to note:

1. People with tuberculosis, airway fungi, mold, and viral infections should use with caution.

2. Pregnant women should avoid use.

3. To reduce pharyngeal thrush, patients should rinse their mouth after taking the medication.

4. Fetal toxicity: Clinical experience in pregnant women is limited. Like other glucocorticoids, budesonide caused various types of malformations (cleft palate, skeletal deformities) in animal experiments. However, the correlation between the data from animal experiments and humans has not yet been demonstrated. Until more experience is gained, pregnant women should not use this product unless there are special considerations.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to or to any component of the preparation. Not allowed for use by children under 6 years old. Tuberculosis (active or quiescent); untreated bacterial, fungal, or viral infection.
