Budesonide is actually a glucocorticoid and its mechanism of action is basically the same as other glucocorticoids. The advantage of budesonide is that it is used locally on the lesion, and only a small amount of the drug will be absorbed into the blood circulation system. Therefore, the side effects are significantly reduced compared with hormones that can be absorbed into the blood system, and the safety is very good. Budesonide aerosol is widely used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis and asthma (Dr. Le himself uses it every week). Budesonide enteric-coated capsules are a new dosage form that can be taken orally, but only 10% of the drug is absorbed into the blood system. It has been widely used to treat Crohn's disease.

In addition, clinical trials also show that budesonide enteric-coated capsules can reduce urinary protein in patients with IgA nephropathy. gA nephropathy is also an autoimmune disease, and lymphocytes in the intestinal mucosa are an important site for the production of IgA immunoglobulin. The renal function of patients with IgA nephropathy who took desonide capsules also remained relatively stable.

Usage and dosage of budesonide capsules: Adults generally use 1-2 mg of budesonide once, twice a day; children use 0.5-1 mg once, twice a day. The maintenance dose should be individualized, that is, the lowest dose to maintain no symptoms. It is recommended that adults take 0.5-1 mg twice a day and children 0.25-0.5 mg twice a day. Precautions for budesonide: 1. People with tuberculosis, airway fungi, mold, and virus infections should use budesonide capsules with caution. 2. Pregnant women should avoid using budesonide. 3. To reduce pharyngeal thrush, patients should rinse their mouth after taking the medicine. 4. Fetal toxicity: Clinical experience in pregnant women is limited. Like other glucocorticoids, budesonide caused various types of malformations (cleft palate, skeletal deformities) in animal experiments. However, the correlation between the data from animal experiments and humans has not yet been demonstrated. Until more experience is gained, budesonide capsules should not be used by pregnant women unless there are special considerations.
