Instructions:

Indications: Zoledronic acid is indicated for pain caused by osteolytic bone metastasis of malignant tumors.

Usage and dosage: intravenous drip. For adults, 4 mg each time should be diluted with 100 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride injection or 5% glucose injection and then infused intravenously. The infusion time should be no less than 15 minutes. Administer every 3-4 weeks or as directed by your doctor.

Adverse reactions: Adverse reactions of zoledronic acid are similar to those reported with other bisphosphonates and occur in approximately 1/3 of patients. The most common adverse reactions were influenza-like symptoms (approximately 9%), including bone pain (9.1%), fever (7.2%), fatigue (4.1%), chills (2.8%), and arthralgia and myalgia (approximately 3%).

Things to note:

When using zoledronic acid for the first time, the levels of serum calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and serum creatinine should be closely monitored. If the levels of serum calcium, phosphorus and magnesium are too low, necessary supplementary treatment should be given. Patients with malignant hypercalcemia should be fully hydrated before taking this product. Diuretics can only be used after sufficient rehydration when combined with this product. Caution should be used when this product is combined with nephrotoxic drugs.

If renal function worsens during treatment with zoledronic acid, the drug should be discontinued until renal function returns to baseline; asthma patients who are allergic to aspirin should use this product with caution. It is not clear whether zoledronic acid will be secreted into breast milk. Because this product can bind to bones for a long time, it is contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women. The safety and effectiveness of zoledronic acid in children have not been established, and its use is not currently recommended.

Medication for the elderly is the same as for adults. However, elderly patients often have lower renal function and their renal function should be closely monitored during administration. Drug interactions: Caution should be exercised when combined with aminoglycosides, as aminoglycosides have a synergistic effect in lowering blood calcium and may prolong the duration of hypocalcemia; combined use with diuretics may increase the risk of hypocalcemia, and combined use with thalidomide may increase the risk of abnormal renal function in patients with multiple myeloma.
