The recommended dose of denosumab for the prevention of bone-related events in solid tumor bone metastases is 120 mg, administered by subcutaneous injection (upper arm, upper thigh, or abdomen) once every 4 weeks, along with calcium or vitamin D infusion to prevent hypocalcemia. NOTE: Not for use in patients with multiple myeloma for prophylaxis of bone-related events.

It is a prescription drug and patients should not take it blindly. Hypocalcemia must be corrected before treatment can be initiated. For some special groups, such as pregnant women, the use of denosumab may cause fetal damage; breastfeeding women need to choose to terminate the drug or breastfeed; the safety and effectiveness of the drug in pediatric patients have not yet been determined.
