Does Rivaroxaban affect wound healing?

Author: medicalhalo
Release time: 2026-02-01 22:25:32

Rivaroxaban may cause delayed wound healing, so you should stop using rivaroxaban before having procedures that require incisions or punctures, such as surgery, to reduce the risk of post-operative bleeding. Overdosage of rivaroxaban may result in bleeding; if overdose-related bleeding complications occur, discontinue rivaroxaban and initiate appropriate treatment. Due to limited absorption, systemic exposure of rivaroxaban will not be further increased with a single dose of 50 mg. Consider using activated charcoal to reduce absorption in the event of rivaroxaban overdose. Rivaroxaban is not dialyzable due to high plasma protein binding, and partial reversal of laboratory anticoagulation parameters can be achieved using plasma products. Agents are available that reverse the activity of rivaroxaban's antifactor Xa.
