Is Rivaroxaban effective as an anticoagulant?
Rivaroxaban (Rivaroxaban) inhibits free and bound factor Xa in the prothrombinase complex. It is a selective direct factor Xa inhibitor with an onset of action of 2.5-4 hours. Inhibitor factor Xa interrupts the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways of the blood coagulation cascade, inhibiting thrombin formation and thrombus formation. Rivaroxaban does not inhibit thrombin (activated factor II) and has no proven effect on platelets. It allows for predictable anticoagulation and dose adjustment as well as routine coagulation monitoring; no dietary restrictions are required. Rivaroxaban works by inhibiting the activity of coagulation factor Xa, blocking the process of thrombosis. It prevents existing blood clots from growing further or causing other related blood clot problems.
