Mitotane (Mitotane) is a hormone disruptor used primarily to treat adrenocortical cancer, especially in patients who have had surgery to remove the tumor. When surgery cannot completely remove the tumor, or the tumor has spread to other tissues, mitotane is usually used as part of postoperative adjuvant therapy to reduce the risk of tumor recurrence. By inhibiting the growth of tumor cells and controlling the secretion of adrenocortical hormones, it helps maintain the stable state of the disease and reduce the possibility of tumor growth again. Mitotane can also reduce symptoms associated with adrenocortical cancer, such as high blood pressure, mood swings, and obesity. This is important to improve patients' quality of life.
