Pirfenidone (Pirfenidone) is an active small molecule containing phenylpyridine. It is the first oral drug approved for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-fibrotic effects by inhibiting the secretion of cytokines (such as TGF-β).
