What is ozanimod?

Ozamod (ozanimod) sold under the trade name Zeposia, is an immunomodulatory drug that acts as a sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor (S1PR) agonist to sequester lymphocytes to peripheral lymphoid organs and away from their sites of chronic inflammation. In clinical trials, ozanimod has been shown to be well tolerated and reduce relapse rates in multiple sclerosis more than intramuscular interferon beta-1a, the current standard of care for multiple sclerosis.

Ozamod is used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis in adults(including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease). Ozamod is used only if you have a specific genotype. Your doctor will test your genotype. Ozamod is also used to treat adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis. After oral administration, Ozamod is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and reaches a Cmax of 0.244 ng/mL 6-8 hours after administration. It reaches steady state about 102 hours after administration. The most common adverse reactions are upper respiratory tract infection, elevated liver transaminase, orthostatic hypotension, urinary tract infection, back pain and hypertension.

The original drug Ozamod has been launched in China, but it has been on the market for a short time and has not been included in the medical insurance.
