How much does a box of Delamanid cost?
Delamanid is a nitroimidazoxazole antimycobacterial prodrug that is activated through the bioreduction of its nitro group by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and inhibits the synthesis of mycobacterial cell wall components methoxymycolic acid and ketomycolic acid. It can be used to treat pulmonary multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in adults, adolescents, children and infants weighing at least 10kg.
Delamanid is only available by prescription and treatment should be started and monitored by a doctor experienced in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Delamanid is available as 50 mg tablets and 25 mg dispersible tablets to be taken with food. The 25 mg dispersible tablet is only suitable for children and infants weighing between 10 and 30 kg. The recommended dose for adults is 100 mg twice daily, while the dose for children and infants is based on the patient's weight. Delamanid is taken with other TB medicines for 6 months. Treatment with these drugs should be continued after delamanid treatment, as recommended by official guidelines.
The original drug Delamani has been launched in China and is included in the scope of Class B medical insurance. Reimbursement is limited to patients with multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis. Specifications The price of each box of 50mg*60 tablets may be around 6,000 yuan, which is relatively expensive. The price of the Russian version of the original drug Dramani, 50mg*48 tablets, sold overseas may be around RMB 1,000-2,000 per box (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate). There is currently no generic version of Dramani available on the market. For more drug information and specific prices, please consult Yaode’s medical consultant.
