Can Relugolix be taken long-term?

One potential benefit of once-daily oral administration of Relugolix is the potential for increased patient convenience, including reducing the need for outpatient visits. On the other hand, there are concerns that oral androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) medications may reduce treatment compliance and may have a negative impact on patient outcomes. NCCN guidelines indicate that continuous monitoring of testosterone levels may help confirm continued testosterone suppression to castration levels and that if compliance with oral therapy is uncertain, alternatives to ADT may be preferable.

In the HERO trial, treatment compliance was high (>99%) in both treatment groups. In addition, using the semi-mechanical population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics model of Repagliflox for simulation, assuming 100% adherence to the recommended dosing regimen for 40 days, it was predicted that 97.3% and 85.5% of patients would maintain testosterone at castration levels after temporary interruption of treatment for 7 days and 14 days, respectively. Regarding the safety and effectiveness of long-term use of Repagliflox, patients should consult a professional physician or doctor who will be able to assess whether the patient is suitable for long-term use of the drug on a case-by-case basis and provide relevant information on dosage, frequency and possible side effects.

The original drug of Regogliflox has not yet been launched in the country, so it is not covered by medical insurance. There are European and Japanese versions of the original drug Rleglik available overseas. The ingredients of the two are basically the same. The price of the European version of 120mg*30 tablets per box may be around RMB 4,000, and the price of the Japanese version of 40mg*100 tablets per box may be around RMB 4,000 (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates). Currently, there are no generic versions of Repagliflox produced and put on the market.
