Effects of Turkish Vigabatrin

Vigabatrin (Vigabatrin) is absorbed orally. The bioavailability of the S-enantiomer is 50% and the R-enantiomer is 65%. It can be eaten with or without food. Vigabatrin is not protein-bound and is widely distributed throughout the body with an average steady-state volume of distribution (Vd) of 1.1 L/kg (coefficient of variation, 20%).

Although Vibatrin is thought to be an inducer of cytochromeP450 2C9, it does not undergo significant hepatic metabolism. Vigabatrin is largely excreted via the kidneys, with an elimination half-life of 7 to 7.5 hours in adults and 5.7 hours in infants. Hemodialysis can reduce the plasma concentration of drugs by approximately 40% to 60%. During the clinical development of methotrexate for complex partial-onset seizures, it typically takes about four to six weeks to slowly increase the drug dose before all patients reach their assigned therapeutic dose. Patients will be monitored for 14 to 18 weeks (including the time required to reach the designated dose) to see if Vigabatrin is effective.

The original Vigabatrin drug has not yet been launched in China, so it is not included in medical insurance.
