Manufacturer of Crizotinib
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initially approved crizotinib to treat patients with ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. Crizotinib is a capsule preparation produced by Pfizer Inc. and is an oral prescription drug.
Crizotinib treats non-small cell lung cancer caused by defects in a gene calledALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase) or a gene calledROS1; can also be used to treat adults andanaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), a blood cancer, in children older than 1 year of age;and unresectable, recurrent, or refractoryALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Crizotinib capsules for oral administration are provided in the form of printed hard-shell capsules containing 250 mg or 200 mg of crizotinib; another form of crizotinib oral granules is provided in hard gelatin capsules containing 20 mg, 50 mg, or 150 mg of crizotinib.
The original drug Crizotinib has been launched in China and is covered by medical insurance, but it is only reimbursed for patients who meet the indications. The price per box may be around RMB 15,000. The price of the original Turkish version of Crizotinib sold overseas may be more than RMB 10,000 per box (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates), which is expensive. There are also cheaper generic crizotinib drugs available overseas. The ingredients are basically similar to those of the original drugs sold domestically and abroad. For example, the price of 250mg*60 tablets produced by a Bangladesh pharmaceutical factory may be more than 2,000 yuan per box (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates).
