Can lorlatinib treat small cell lung cancer?
Lorlatinib is used primarily to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially those with ALK (tyrosine kinase) or ROS1 (ROS proto-oncogene 1) Patients with gene mutations. However, lorlatinib is not a first-line drug for the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
Small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer are two different subtypes of lung cancer. They have significant differences in pathology, molecular biology, and treatment strategies. Small cell lung cancer usually grows quickly and is characterized by early metastasis, while non-small cell lung cancer is more differentiated and grows relatively slowly.

Larlatinib is mainly used to treat ALK or ROS1 positive non-small cell lung cancer because it shows good efficacy in inhibiting these gene mutations. However, for small cell lung cancer, there is currently no evidence that lorlatinib has significant efficacy in the treatment of this type of lung cancer.
For the treatment of small cell lung cancer, conventional methods include chemotherapy, radiotherapy and possibly immunotherapy. Because the field of lung cancer treatment is constantly evolving, it is recommended that patients and doctors stay in close communication to learn about the latest treatment options and clinical trials to develop the most appropriate treatment plan. Patients with small cell lung cancer should develop the best treatment plan based on their individual circumstances under the guidance of professional doctors.
