What are the side effects of Satclizumab (Anshiping)?
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) may be related to antibodies that bind to a protein called aquaporin-4 (AQ P4). The binding of anti-aquaporin 4 antibodies appears to activate other components of the immune system, leading to inflammation and central nervous system damage. The approval of satralizumab underscores the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) commitment to rapidly advancing safe and effective treatments for NMOSD and other neurological diseases.

The prescribing information for satelizumab includes a warning of an increased risk of infection, including serious and potentially fatal infections - such as hepatitis B and potential reactivation of tuberculosis. Other warnings and precautions with satelizumab include elevated liver enzymes, decreased neutrophil count, and hypersensitivity reactions. The most common side effects observed were the common cold (nasopharyngitis), headache, upper respiratory tract infection, inflammation of the gastric mucosa, rash, joint pain, pain in the extremities, fatigue, and nausea. Administration of live attenuated or live vaccines is not recommended during treatment and should be administered at least four weeks before starting satlizumab.
The original drug satlizumab has been launched in China, sold under the brand name Anshiping, and is included in medical insurance. Only patients who meet the indications can be reimbursed. The specification is120mg (1ml) per box The price may be more than RMB 10,000, which is still relatively expensive; the price of each box of the original drug Saterizumab sold overseas is more than $10,000 (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate). The ingredients of the original drug sold domestically and abroad are basically the same. There are currently no generic versions of satlizumab available on the market.
