How many injections of Eculizumab are needed?
Eculizumab (Eculizumab) This medication is only available by prescription and must be used under the supervision of a doctor experienced in managing patients with kidney disease and diseases that affect the nervous system or blood. Eculizumab is given by intravenous infusion (drip), given intravenously (into a vein) by a doctor or nurse in a clinic over at least 35 minutes. The recommended dose depends on its use and, for patients under 18 years of age, their weight. Eculizumab is given once a week initially, then every two to three weeks.

Monitor the patient for any reactions during the infusion and for at least one hour after the infusion. If any infusion-related reactions occur, your doctor may slow or stop the infusion. In some patients who receive plasma exchange (the removal, treatment, and reinfusion of their own plasma, the liquid part of the blood) or plasma transfusions, additional doses of eculizumab are needed. Unless patients experience serious side effects, eculizumab should be taken for life. Patients with refractory generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) who do not respond to eculizumab after 12 weeks should also discontinue treatment.
The generic drug Eculizumab has been launched in China and is covered by medical insurance. It is only available for reimbursement to eligible patients. The specification is 300mg (30ml) and the price per box may be more than 3,000 yuan. It is understood that the price of each box of the original Eculizumab drug sold overseas is more than 6,000 US dollars (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate). The ingredients of the original drug sold at home and abroad are basically the same, and the price of the original drug is still relatively expensive. There are currently no generic versions of eculizumab available on the market.
