Capmatinib’s mechanism of action

Capmatinib (Capmatinib) is a targeted therapy drug whose mechanism of action mainly focuses on the specific inhibition of MET kinase. METkinase is a receptor tyrosine kinase that participates in key processes such as the growth, differentiation, migration and survival of tumor cells. METkinase plays an important role in the normal growth and differentiation of cells under normal physiological conditions. However, in some cases, such as abnormal activation or mutation of the MET gene, it may lead to uncontrolled growth of cancer cells.

The mechanism of action of capmatinib is mainly manifested in the following aspects:

1. Inhibition of MET kinase: Capmatinib blocks the abnormal activation of the MET kinase signaling pathway by binding to MET kinase and inhibiting its activity. This targeting effect can slow, inhibit or even reverse the growth and division of cancer cells, thereby affecting tumor development.

2. Inhibition of cancer cell growth signaling: MET Inhibition of kinase blocks its related growth factor signaling pathways and reduces cancer cell proliferation and survival signals. This helps limit the growth of tumor cells while reducing undue effects on surrounding normal cells.

3. Reduce angiogenesis: METKinase also plays a certain role in angiogenesis, and inhibiting its activity may affect the blood supply of tumors. By reducing the formation of new blood vessels, capmatinib can indirectly reduce the blood supply to tumors, starving them of adequate nutrients and oxygen, thereby inhibiting their growth.

Capmatinib is not yet available in China, so patients cannot purchase it domestically yet and need to purchase it through overseas channels. Currently, there are Hong Kong version of original drugs and foreign original drugs and generic drugs. The price of Hong Kong version of original drugs is about 35,000 yuan. The overseas original drugs are mainly European version of original drugs, and the price is more than 50,000 yuan, so original drugs are still relatively expensive. Generic drugs on the market abroad are much cheaper, mainly Laos generic drugs, the price is around 3,000 to 4,000 yuan, and the ingredients of original drugs and generic drugs are basically the same.
