Good news not to be missed! Seleniso will be included in medical insurance in 2024

The original drug of Selinexor was approved by the National Medical Products Administration in 2021 and will be sold in China under the name of Selinexor Tablets (XPOVIO). As ofMarch 2024, it has been learned that Seliniso has also entered the national medical insurance through the relevant policies of the National Medical Insurance Bureau, and belongs to the category of Class B medical insurance. Therefore, selinesol tablets will be included in medical insurance in 2024.

Selinexor contains the active ingredient selinexor, which is a cancer drug used to treat multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. It is used with two other drugs, Bortezomib and Dexamethasone, in adults who have received at least one prior treatment. It is also used with dexamethasone in adults who have received at least four treatments and whose condition has worsened since the last treatment. Seleniso blocks the action of a protein called Export in1 (XPO1). High levels of XPO1 are found in many cancer cells, where it blocks the action of certain proteins that help stop cancer growth. By blocking XPO1, the drug enhances the effects of these proteins, causing cancer cells to die and thus slow the progression of the disease.

The reimbursement conditions for selinesol after entering the medical insurance include being limited to adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received previous treatment and are refractory to at least one proteasome inhibitor, one immunomodulator, and one anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody. Seleniso, which is available in China and is included in medical insurance, may cost more than RMB 20,000 per box. Patients who meet the indications can use medical insurance for reimbursement, while patients who do not meet the conditions can only purchase the drug at their own expense.
