At what stage of breast cancer should you take neratinib/neratinib?
The staging of breast cancer is determined based on the size of the tumor, lymph node metastasis, and the presence of distant metastasis. Treatment options may vary for different stages of breast cancer. Neratinib/Neratinib is a targeted therapy drug used for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. Specific treatment options should be determined based on the specific circumstances of each patient. Therefore, before deciding whether to take neratinib and when to start using it, talk to your doctor who will evaluate and guide a treatment plan based on your condition.
For early-stage HER2-positive breast cancer, surgery is usually performed to remove the tumor, and adjuvant treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy may be given. In some high-risk patients, neratinib may be used to treat early-stage HER2-positive breast cancer for a longer period of time after surgery (what doctors call long-term adjuvant therapy). Neratinib may be taken up to 1 year after the patient has surgery and completes a chemotherapy regimen that includes trastuzumab.
If breast cancer has spread to local lymph nodes or nearby tissues, or has metastasized distantly, that is, to other organs (such as lungs, liver, bones, etc.), then neratinib can be used as part of maintenance treatment. Neratinib is often used in combination with chemotherapy (capecitabine) and other targeted therapies (such as trastuzumab) to treat patients with advanced and metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer who have received at least two HER2 inhibitors for advanced disease. Aims to control disease progression and prolong survival.
However, it should be noted that long-term use of neratinib may cause resistance, so patients need to pay close attention to changes in their condition during use and adjust their treatment plan in a timely manner according to the doctor's recommendations.
