Crizotinib/Xalkori dosage

Crizotinib/Crizotinib (Crizotinib) is a targeted prescription drug used to treat ALK- or ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), and ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Doctors select patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) for crizotinib based on the presence of ALK or ROS1 positivity in tumor specimens before starting treatment.

For adults with ALK or ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, the recommended dose of crizotinib is 250 mg orally twice daily. Granular dosage forms are available if the patient is unable to swallow capsules. The recommended dose of granules is 250 mg taken orally twice daily (two 50 mg tablets and one 150 mg tablet) until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs. For pediatric patients and young adults with relapsed or refractory ALK-positive systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma, the recommended dose of crizotinib is 280 mg/m2 orally twice daily until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. For patients with unresectable, recurrent, or refractory ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, the recommended dose for adult patients is 250 mg orally twice daily and for pediatric patients is 280 mg/m² orally twice daily.

Crizotinib is available in capsule and granule forms for oral administration. Crizotinib capsules can be taken with food or alone, but do not chew, crush, or open the capsules. Crizotinib granules can be administered in two ways, one is to pour the granules directly into the patient's mouth, the other is to pour the granules into the provided oral administration aid (such as a spoon, medicine cup). After delivering the pellets directly into the patient's mouth using a delivery aid, the medication should be swallowed immediately with enough water to ensure that all of the medication is swallowed.
