Is gosatuzumab made in China?

Sacituzumab govitecan (Sacituzumab govitecan) is a domestically produced drug. It is an anti-Trop-2 target antibody drug conjugate (ADC) drug developed by Gilead Sciences, with the trade name Trodelvy. In China, it is commercialized as Trodelvy.

Domestic drugs usually refer to drugs developed and produced in mainland China. These drugs can include traditional Chinese medicine, chemical drugs and biological agents. However, domestically produced drugs does not mean that all drugs are original. It also includes generic drugs, which are drugs produced by imitating existing drugs. Gosatuzumab is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that combines the advantages of targeted therapy and chemotherapy. This drug delivers chemotherapy drugs directly to tumor cells by targeting the Trop-2 antigen expressed on the surface of cancer cells, thereby improving the therapeutic effect and reducing damage to normal cells.

In clinical trials, gosatuzumab has shown results. For example, the phase III ASCENT study confirmed that gosatuzumab can significantly improve progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) compared with physician's choice of chemotherapy (TPC) in the treatment of relapsed or refractory metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). In addition, the phase III TROPiCS-02 study also showed that gosatuzumab can also improve PFS and OS in patients with advanced, previously treated hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative (HR+/HER2-) breast cancer.

Although the original drug of gosatuzumab has been launched in China, unfortunately it has not been included in the medical insurance directory. The price of each bottle of 180mg is about RMB 10,000, which is relatively high. In overseas markets such as Europe, the United States and Singapore, prices fluctuate due to exchange rate changes, ranging from about 10,000 to more than 30,000 yuan. It is worth noting that the ingredients of gosatuzumab sold at home and abroad are basically the same. So far, there are no generic versions of gosatuzumab on the market.
