Is Apelix effective in treating lymphangioma?

Alpelisib (Alpelisib) is a targeted drug used to treat HER2-negative, estrogen receptor-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer. It works by inhibiting the p110α subunit in the PI3K signaling pathway. At present, there is no sufficient clinical research and evidence to support the use of apelvis in the treatment of lymphangioma (lymphangioleiomyomatosis, referred to as LAM).

As for lymphangioma, this is a benign tumor that originates in lymph vessels and usually appears as a painless lump or swelling. Lymphangiomas can occur anywhere in the body, but are most common in the neck, armpits, groin, and chest. Treatment of lymphangioma varies depending on the size, location and patient symptoms of the tumor and may include observation, surgical removal, sclerotherapy injections and laser therapy. Currently, there are very limited studies on the efficacy of apelvis in the treatment of lymphangioma.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the combination of apelis and fulvestrant for the treatment of men and postmenopausal women with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative, PIK3CA-mutated, advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Although Apelix is u200bu200ba drug targeting the PI3K signaling pathway, and the occurrence and development of lymphangioma may also be related to abnormalities in the PI3K signaling pathway, there is currently no clear evidence that Apelis has a therapeutic effect on lymphangioma.

Although the PI3K signaling pathway exists in the occurrence and development of lymphangioma, the current treatment of lymphangioma still mainly relies on traditional treatment methods such as surgical resection and sclerotherapy injection. Therefore, the effectiveness and safety of apelvis in the treatment of lymphoma still require further study and evaluation.
