Can Tucatinib be purchased in China?

Tucatinib (Tucatinib) is an oral small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor, TKI ) that specifically targets human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2 ). HER2 is a receptor tyrosine kinase that is often overexpressed in certain cancer types, particularly breast and gastric cancers. HER2Positive breast cancer refers to breast cancer with a large number of HER2 receptors on the surface of cancer cells, accounting for 15-20% of all breast cancer cases. For example, in the HER2CLIMB trial, tucatinib was used in combination with trastuzumab and capecitabine to significantly extend progression-free survival and overall survival, especially in patients with brain metastases, showing significant clinical benefit. However, tucatinib is not currently available in mainland China. Domestic patients cannot purchase the drug through formal channels and must rely on overseas channels. Purchasing drugs through overseas channels involves complex procedures and high costs. Abroad, tucatinib (tucatinib) has two options: original drug and generic drug. Original drugs are usually produced by European pharmaceutical companies, and monthly treatment costs can reach tens of thousands of yuan. Such prices represent a huge financial burden for many patients and families.

In comparison, generic drugs offer a more economical option. The price of generic drugs produced in Laos and Bangladesh is around three to four thousand yuan. Despite their low price, these generic drugs are basically the same as the original drugs in terms of composition and efficacy, providing a feasible treatment option for patients with limited financial conditions. Patients can obtain these generic drugs through some international drug purchasing platforms or directly contact overseas pharmacies, but it should be noted that these channels are not always reliable and caution is required when purchasing.
