Why do Valganciclovir and Valganciclovir have two prices?
Valganciclovir is an oral antiviral drug used for cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. If a patient is taking it to prevent infection, it is usually taken only once a day. But if you take it to treat a CMV infection, you may need to take it twice daily for the first few weeks of treatment. Some common side effects of valganciclovir include diarrhea, fever, and fatigue. Valganciclovir is available as tablets and as an oral solution.
Valganciclovir is mainly used for the prevention of cytomegalovirus infection after organ transplantation and the treatment of cytomegalovirus eye infection in adults with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Valganciclovir is metabolized (broken down) by the body into an active antiviral drug called ganciclovir. Ganciclovir blocks an enzyme calledDNA polymerase. Without this enzyme, the virus cannot replicate itself. Cytomegalovirus is a common virus that can infect patients. But if a patient receives a transplant, their immune system becomes weaker because many transplant medications are taken to prevent organ rejection. In this case, infection with CMV can lead to serious health complications and increase the risk of losing a transplanted organ.
Valganciclovir original tablets are already on the domestic market, but they have been on the market for a short time and are not covered by medical insurance. Common specifications: 10 tablets of 450mg and 60 tablets of 0.45g. The price is about RMB 10,000 per box. Overseas, there are Turkish, Indian, and Swiss versions. A 60-piece package is about more than 4,000 yuan (the exchange rate affects the price). There is no difference in ingredients, only the price. No generic version is currently available.
