How long does it take for Roprestim/Romigrastim to take effect after injection?
Romiplostim is a biologic drug given by subcutaneous injection once a week to treat immune thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). Ropremilast can promote the body's production of platelets. It is understood that Ropremilast starts to work from the first dose of injection and can increase platelet count. The lowest dose of loprostimin should be used to achieve and maintain a platelet count ≥50x10^9//L. Based on the results of clinical studies, platelet counts were found to increase within 2-3 weeks after only a single dose of loprostim.

Patients were initially started on roproprimostat at a dose of 1 mcg/kg per week and then titrated in increments of 1 mcg/kg per week to achieve desired platelet counts. The maximum dose of Roprostim is 10 micrograms per kilogram (mcg/kg) per week. Based on results from a single-arm, open-label study in 75 adults with immune thrombocytopenia, the median time to first platelet response was 2.1 weeks. In clinical studies, the median weekly dose of ropruprimostat was 2-3 mcg/kg in adult patients who responded to treatment with ropruprimostat and achieved and maintained desired platelet counts. If the platelet count does not increase to an adequate level, loprostim should be discontinued after 4 weeks of treatment at the maximum dose of 10 mcg/kg per week.
In addition, roplastin is also used as a one-time treatment to increase survival in patients with acute radiation syndrome and hematopoietic syndrome.
Overall, roplastin is an effective and adjustable treatment option that can help patients increase platelet counts in a relatively short period of time. Through dose adjustments and regular monitoring, doctors can better manage patients' treatment regimens to maximize treatment effectiveness and safety.
