How long does one injection of Ropilastin/Romilastin last?

Romiplostim is a subcutaneous injectable form of the drug commonly used to treat immune thrombocytopenia (ITP; a disorder characterized by low platelet counts) in adult and pediatric patients for whom previous treatments such as corticosteroids, splenectomy, or immunoglobulins have not produced promising results.

The effects of each injection of Roprostim may take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to appear. Typically, patients will see an increase in platelet counts within one to two weeks after the injection. This improvement usually occurs gradually, so during the initial stages of treatment, doctors regularly monitor patients' platelet levels to assess the effectiveness of treatment.

Romiplostimcontains an active ingredient calledromiplostim, which mimics the effects of thrombopoietin (TPO). TPO is a hormone naturally produced primarily by the liver that regulates the production of platelets. This hormone stimulates the production of platelets in the bone marrow to maintain levels of platelet cells in the blood. Roplastinis designed in such a way that it attaches to the same target (bone marrow) as natural thrombopoietin (TPO) and stimulates the bone marrow in ITP patients to produce more platelets. In other words, roprostimcan increase platelet levels in ITP patients and reduce the risk of bleeding.

The effectiveness of loplastin may vary from person to person. In some patients, the drug begins to increase platelet levels, usually 4 to 9 days after dose injection, and platelet counts usually peak 12 to 16 days after dose injection. Therefore, maintenance of the effects of loplastin may require a combination of regular injections and monitoring.
