Erlotinib dosage and use
For patients with non-small cell lung cancer, the recommended single-agent dose of erlotinib is usually 150mg/day. This dose was determined based on the results of multiple clinical studies and is designed to achieve optimal therapeutic effects while controlling side effects.
In some cases, the dose of erlotinib may need to be adjusted. For example, doctors may consider reducing the dose if a patient experiences serious adverse effects, such as diarrhea or skin reactions. Typically, dose reductions are made by 50 mg per dose to ensure patient tolerance.

The dose of erlotinib may require special adjustment in patients with hepatic impairment or renal impairment. Additionally, smoking patients may require higher doses to achieve similar therapeutic effects as non-smoking patients. However, these adjustments should be made under the close guidance of a physician.
Erlotinib should be taken at a fixed time every day to ensure stable blood concentration. It is usually recommended that patients take it 1 hours before meals or 2 hours after meals to reduce the impact of food on drug absorption.
Erlotinib is an oral medication and should be swallowed whole and should not be chewed or crushed. If you are unable to swallow the entire tablet, ask your doctor for advice on alternative ways of taking the medication.
Patients should continue treatment with erlotinib until disease progression or intolerable toxicity occurs. During treatment, patients should receive regular evaluations from their doctor to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the treatment.
While taking erlotinib, patients should avoid certain drugs or foods that may affect the effectiveness of the drug, such as grapefruit and its juice. In addition, patients should pay close attention to any abnormal body reactions and report them to their doctor promptly.
