Is nintedanib a hormonal drug?

Nintedanib (Nintedanib) is not a hormonal drug. It is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor , mainly used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic fibrosing interstitial lung disease (ILD), systemic sclerosis-related interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD), etc. Different from hormone drugs, hormone drugs usually refer to drugs based on natural or synthetic hormones, which are mainly used to regulate the physiological processes of the body, anti-inflammatory, immune regulation and other functions. For patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, nintedanib can improve the lung function and quality of life of patients by reducing the activity of fibroblasts in the lung tissue and reducing the rate of fibrosis formation. In the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, nintedanib can be used in combination with other treatments to improve the efficacy.

Nintedanib also has different side effects and indications than hormonal drugs. Common side effects of hormonal drugs include weight gain, edema, glucose metabolism disorders, etc., while the side effects of nintedanib mainly include gastrointestinal reactions (such as diarrhea, nausea), liver function damage, and cardiovascular events. These side effects need to be monitored and managed during treatment to ensure patient safety and treatment effectiveness.
