(NARCAN Nasal Spray) is an opioid receptor antagonist, derived from oxymorphone. It has the effect of promoting the excitement of the respiratory center, improving pulmonary ventilation, and regulating blood circulation. NARCAN Nasal Spray is used for known or suspected opioid overdose in adults and children. IMPORTANT: For intranasal use only. Do not remove or test NARCAN nasal spray until ready to use. Each NARCAN nasal spray contains 1 dose and cannot be reused. You do not need to prefill NARCAN nasal spray.

How to use NARCAN Nasal Spray

1. Place the patient in a supine position to receive one dose of NARCAN nasal spray.

2. Take NARCAN Nasal Spray out of the box. Use a circle to peel back the tab to open NARCAN Nasal Spray.

NARCAN Nasal Spray is frozen at temperatures below 5℉ (-15℃). If this happens, the device will not spray. If this happens, seek emergency medical help immediately. Do not wait for NARCAN nasal spray to thaw. NARCAN Nasal Spray can still be used if it has been thawed after being previously frozen.

3. Hold the bottom of the red plunger of NARCAN Nasal Spray with your thumb and the sides of the nozzle with your index and middle fingers.

4. Tilt the patient's head back and support the lower part of the neck with your hands. Gently insert the tip of the nozzle into one nostril until your fingers rest against the base of the person's nose on either side of the nozzle.

5. Press the red plunger firmly to administer the NARCAN nasal spray dose.

6. After administration, remove NARCAN Nasal Spray from your nostrils.

What to do after using NARCAN Nasal Spray

1. Seek emergency medical help immediately.

(1) After administering NARCAN nasal spray, place the patient on their side (recovery position).

(2) Observe patients closely.

(3) If the patient is awake, unresponsive to sound or touch, or breathing normally, another dose may be given. NARCAN nasal spray may be administered every 2-3 minutes (if available).

(4) Repeat steps 2-6 above using a new dose of NARCAN Nasal Spray in the other nostril. If additional NARCAN nasal spray is available, repeat steps 2-6 above every 2-3 minutes until the patient responds or emergency medical help is received.

2. Put the used NARCAN nasal spray back into the box.

3. Discard (dispose of) used NARCAN Nasal Spray away from children.
