(Celebrex) is a new generation compound with a unique mechanism of action that specifically inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Indications include: 1) For the relief of symptoms and signs of osteoarthritis. 2) For the relief of symptoms and signs of rheumatoid arthritis in adults. 3) For the treatment of acute pain in adults.

What is the usage and dosage of celecoxib?

There are many indications for celecoxib, and the usage and dosage for different diseases are also different.

For osteoarthritis: The recommended dose of celecoxib is 200 mg orally once daily, or 100 mg orally twice daily.

For rheumatoid arthritis: The recommended dose of celecoxib (Celebrex) is 100 mg to 200 mg twice daily.

For acute pain: the recommended dose of celecoxib is 400 mg for the first dose on the first day, and an additional 200 mg if necessary; thereafter, 200 mg twice a day as needed.

For ankylosing spondylitis: The recommended dose of celecoxib (Celebrex) is 200 mg per day, taken as a single dose (once a day) or in divided doses (twice a day). If no effect is seen after 6 weeks of use, 400 mg per day can be tried. If there is no effect after taking 400mg daily for 6 weeks, other treatment methods should be considered.

Celecoxib administered on an empty stomach is well absorbed and reaches peak plasma concentration in about 2 to 3 hours. The bioavailability of the capsule after oral administration is 99% of the bioavailability after oral suspension (suspension is the best dosage form for oral utilization).

Medical Companion Travel reminds patients that before deciding to use (Celebrex), they should carefully consider the potential benefits and risks of this product and other treatment options. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest treatment duration based on each patient's treatment goals.
