Both drugs have been used for more than 1 year, and the discontinuation rates are similar (11.4% for Desirox and 11.1% for deferoxamine), and the two drugs have similar effects on reducing dose-dependent LIC. Trials have shown that once-daily oral administration of Desirox is highly tolerable.
