What drugs should not be taken with Danazol?

Danazol is indicated for the treatment of endometriosis with hormonal therapy; fibrocystic disease of the breast; and prevention of episodes of angioedema of all types (skin, abdomen, throat) in men and women. Some drugs cannot be used together during medication, as follows:

1. Patients stabilized on warfarin have prolonged prothrombin time.

2. Treatment may cause the patient's carbamazepine level to increase.

3. Danazol can cause insulin resistance and should be used with caution when used together with anti-diabetic drugs.

4. Danazol may increase the plasma levels of cyclosporine and tacrolimus, resulting in increased nephrotoxicity of these drugs. Monitoring of systemic concentrations of these drugs and appropriate dosage adjustments may be necessary when used concomitantly with danazol.

5. Danazol can increase the calcium ion response to synthetic vitamin D analogs in patients with primary hypoparathyroidism.

6. Concomitant use of danazol with statins such as simvastatin, atorvastatin and lovastatin may increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Use caution if used together.

7. Laboratory tests: Danazol treatment may interfere with laboratory determinations of testosterone, androstenedione, and dehydroepiandrosterone. Other metabolic events include decreases in thyroid-binding globulin and T4 with increased T3 uptake, but no disturbance in thyroid-stimulating hormone or free thyroxine indexes.

8. Combined use with ampicillin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone, and rifampicin can reduce the efficacy of danazol.

9. If you still have irregular menstruation after stopping the drug for 60 to 90 days, you should seek diagnosis and treatment. Those who need contraception during this period should use non-steroidal contraceptive methods instead of oral contraceptives.

Danazol's effects

Danazol is a testosterone anabolic hormone and a gonadotropin-inhibiting drug that can inhibit the pituitary-ovarian axis, reduce the release of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (luteinizing hormone, LH), and inhibit the effectiveness of estrogen.
