What kind of medicine is Shudan? The chemical name of (ondansetron hydrochloride) is 2,3-dihydro-9-methyl-3-[(2-methylimidazol-1-yl)methyl]-4(1H)-carbazolone hydrochloride dihydrate. It is a powerful and highly selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist with strong antiemetic effect. Ondansetron hydrochloride exerts antiemetic effects by antagonizing 5-HT receptors on neurons located locally in the peripheral and central nervous system.
Shudan (ondansetron hydrochloride) is approved for: ① nausea and vomiting caused by cytotoxic drug chemotherapy and radiotherapy; ② prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting after surgery.
For vomiting caused by highly emetic chemotherapy drugs, Shudan (ondansetron hydrochloride): Inject 8 mg of ondansetron hydrochloride injection intravenously 15 minutes before chemotherapy, 4 hours, and 8 hours after chemotherapy, and take 8 mg of ondansetron hydrochloride tablets orally every 8 hours after stopping chemotherapy for 5 days.
