Instructions:

Indications: Shudan (ondansetron hydrochloride) is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist indicated for the prevention of: nausea and vomiting associated with highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including cisplatin greater than or equal to 50 mg/m2. Nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeated courses of moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy. Nausea and vomiting in patients receiving total body irradiation, single high-dose fractional abdominal dose, or abdominal daily fractions receiving radiotherapy; postoperative nausea and/or vomiting.

Usage and dosage: 1. For vomiting caused by highly emetic chemotherapy drugs: Inject 8 mg of Shudan intravenously 15 minutes before chemotherapy, 4 hours, and 8 hours after chemotherapy. After stopping chemotherapy, take 8 mg of Shudan (2 tablets) orally every 8 to 12 hours for 5 days.

2. For vomiting caused by chemotherapy drugs that are not very emetic: Inject 8 mg of ondansetron injection intravenously 15 minutes before chemotherapy, and then take 8 mg of Shudan orally every 8 to 12 hours for 5 days.

3. For vomiting caused by radiotherapy: the first dose of 8 mg tablets (2 tablets) must be taken orally 1 to 2 hours before radiotherapy, and 8 mg orally every 8 hours thereafter. The course of treatment depends on the course of radiotherapy.

4. For the prevention of nausea and vomiting after surgery: Take 8 mg tablets (2 tablets) orally 1 hour before anesthesia, and then take 8 mg tablets (2 tablets) twice every 8 hours.

Adverse reactions: Shudan may cause headache, abdominal discomfort, constipation, dry mouth, rash, occasionally bronchial asthma or allergic reactions, and transient asymptomatic increases in transaminases. The above reactions are mild and require no special treatment. Rare reports of movement disorders, epileptic seizures, chest pain, arrhythmia, hypotension, and bradycardia have been reported.

Note: For patients with renal impairment, there is no need to adjust the dosage, frequency and route of administration of ondansetron hydrochloride. For patients with liver function impairment, the ability to clear Shudan from the body is significantly reduced in patients with moderate or severe liver function impairment, and the serum half-life is also significantly prolonged. Therefore, the daily dosage should not exceed 8 mg. Shudan should not be used after abdominal surgery to avoid masking symptoms of ileal or gastric dilatation. This injection and the ampoule or syring containing this product do not contain preservatives and can only be used once after opening. Any remaining solution should be discarded.
