Esomeprazole Magnesium Enteric-Coated Tablets Instructions

[Drug Name] Esomeprazole, Nexium

【Indications】

1. Esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets are used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including the treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis, long-term maintenance treatment to prevent recurrence of cured esophagitis patients, and symptom control of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

2. Esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets combined with appropriate antibacterial therapy can eradicate Helicobacter pylori, heal duodenal ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori infection, and prevent the recurrence of peptic ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori infection.

[Usage and Dosage] Tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid and should not be chewed or crushed.

1. For the treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis, take 40 mg once a day for four weeks.

2. For patients whose esophagitis has not been cured or who have persistent symptoms, it is recommended to take medication for another four weeks. Long-term maintenance treatment for cured esophagitis patients to prevent recurrence, 20 mg once daily.

3. Symptom control of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Patients without esophagitis take 20 mg once a day. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks of medication, the patient should undergo further examination. Once symptoms have resolved, subsequent symptom control can be achieved with immediate therapy, i.e. 20 mg orally once daily as needed.

4. Combined with appropriate antibacterial therapy to eradicate Helicobacter pylori, heal duodenal ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori, and prevent the recurrence of peptic ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori, esomeprazole tablets 20 mg + amoxicillin 1g + clarithromycin 500 mg, twice a day for a total of 7 days.

[Adverse reactions] Occasionally, headache, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, elevated serum aminotransferase, drowsiness, insomnia, dizziness, and rare rash may occur.

【Notes】

1. Patients with rare hereditary diseases such as fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency should not take esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets.

2. Renal impairment: Patients with renal impairment do not need to adjust the dosage. For patients with severe renal insufficiency, caution should be used during treatment due to limited experience with this drug.

3. Hepatic impairment: Patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment do not need to adjust the dosage. For patients with severe hepatic impairment, the dose of esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets should not exceed 2 mg.
